Books

If there is something I really like is reading on the beach while J is kiting. Non-stop reading, where I get totally absorbed into the history and dragged away from reality. This vacation I was really glad for my book choice. Buying or picking up a book is always a surprise: it can be disappointing, boring, fantastic or it can be the book of your life. You never know.

This holiday I was happy with my choices. And they were:

This one I started before holidays. Haruki Murakami is one of my favourite writers. This book tells the story about two teenagers, bounded by a common friend and by strong emotions. A history full of sensuality.

Stieg Larsson... what can say? Absolutely
amazing! The last book of the triology of Millenium, Blomkvist and Salander.

Ui! This one was hard!
Saviano
tells all about italian mafia: names, dates, you name it! Hard to read. I had to make a pause where I red the next book.

An almost romance as
the writer Miguel S. Tavares likes to call it. Very simple but makes you d
ream. I like it especially because it reminded me of my trip to Marroco.

Swedish writer. The fabulous detective Wallander! This is
the first book of many. Ths one is about a violent murder of an old and innocent couple. But things are never what they seem, right?

Last but not least:
african writer Mia
Couto. This book tells the story of a portuguese doctor who goes to Africa to find his love Deolinda.

I just can’t get enough!

Depeche Mode wrote this song thinking about love and finding one another… Right now I’m using for another theme: vacation! I simply just can’t get enough! Unfortunately they are over, but the fantastic memories will last forever! (And having pictures also helps, especially when I turn 80 year old…)

Let’s see what I did on holydays:

1-Went to Portugal

2- Dinner with friends- sardines at Petisca restaurant, the best eating house in Lisbon

4-Beach: Almost every single day! Between Meco and Lagoa de Albufeira and one day at Ericeira.

5- Visiting Sara and João’s flat with very nice barbecued chicken.

6- Reading at the beach…

7- J kiting, me tanning…

8- Bairro Alto with Doudou and Kikas and Rute and all the others we met along the way and along the days

9- Did I mentioned beach? It was where I spent 90% of my time

10- Sushi by the river

11-Going back to train in my old Holmes Place gym (Thanks Doudou!)

12- Shopping: J was luckier than me but I got my fantastic, super, amazing Nikon D90 (Susana and Jes thanks for the tips!)

13- Dinner at Bairro Alto followed by hangover next day

14- Talk and talk and talk… and it is not enough for all catching up

15- Caipiroska por favor!

16- Flying back to Copenhagen with upgrade to 1st class and lots of champagne: Thanks TAP! Muuuaaaa!

Tango y Vinos Argentinsk Vinbar

I'm lucky! I'm lucky because every night I can hear Jazz in the comfort of my living room. Just open the window and et voilá... I can listen crystal clear to all the Jazz concerts in the Tango bar. It's just my next door neighbor.  My favorite band so far is Rolf Thofte Sørensen Kvartet and they are playing now as I am writing. So nice! How I wish to have glass of cold white wine with me! I think I will go down tomorrow and listen to the music in loco! I'm lucky because I love Jazz! If I didn't loved Jazz these nights would be a living hell.

Yeaahh... right on Cavalli

The Sunday Times published an aritcle about Roberto Cavalli latest venture: a nightclub Dubai based on the Cavalli brand. The title is "I am what I am: Roberto Cavalli". Yeah baby, never heard it before. But what I really enjoy reading was: "I never pay attention to costs — it’s not attractive to speak about numbers. Why can't we just focus on the beauty of an object? I don’t know anything about the financial crisis. We’ll make a recovery by everyone loving their life, each other, and being positive. " Humm... anyone care to comment?

Alexandre da Silva

Sometimes people say things to me that I don’t fully understand. I hear it and I make a mental note to during my live try to understand the other person’s point of view. And this happened with Alexandre da Silva. Alexandre da Silva is a very good looking Portuguese actor that also owns it’s own sports brand along with a partner Susana Gateira (www.susanagateirashop.com) (very nice clothing by the way).

Around 4 years ago I was waiting in the hairdresser for my turn and I started to look around in these very high IQ gossip magazines. In one of them there was an interview with Alexandre. He had a play in Casino do Estoril theatre at that time (so nice, it was about two couples but unfortunately I can’t remember the name) and he talked about his work plans and personal life. Now comes the interesting part: he says that he goes to the gym everyday! That exercising is body is for him as natural as brushing his teethes or taking a bath everyday. At the time I must confess I looked puzzled. Everyday? But I didn’t think, “oh this guy is a freak” or anything like that. I simply could not understand how someone could feel like that. Will I ever feel the same way? Make mental note! And now, after 4 years (or is it 5?) here I am, feeling all weird if I don’t go to the gym. Even if it is just for a little bit to run just 3 km or 30 min abs and back. Anything is better than nothing. My body is actually craving for exercise. Who would have guessed? Alexandre, sweetie, you were absolutely right!

Copenhagen's JAZZ!

Tonight J went out with his friends alone. It’s the last weekend before we go on vacations and he wanted to be with “the guys”. On nights like this I have two options: either go out with “the girls” or stay in. I must say that sometimes I really enjoy the second option. Not that “my girls” aren’t the best company in the whole world (because they are!) but because sometimes I enjoy to have time for myself. These nights usually include a glass of wine, magazines, movies (chick flick or Almodover movies) and ends up with a nice book in bed or me falling asleep on the couch. Sometimes these nights also include girl’s maintenance drills like waxing and doing nails, but that is not interesting.

This particular night I have the living room window open (it's so HOT!) a glass of red wine and I am listening to a Jazz concert from a bar in our street. It is so nice! Like all other Julys, the Jazz festival as started in Copenhagen (www.jazz.dk/en/copenhagen-jazz-festival). Some of the concerts are paid but the great majority of them are for free. You can walk on the street and you can hear live jazz in bars, street or gardens. Wonderful!
