They are mine, MINE!

SALES GO AWAY! Really, sales season are like Charlie’s chocolate factory for shopaholics or shop lovers. I belong to the second group but I couldn’t say no to these babies, half price, on the window saying: pick me! Pick me! I had already tried them on but I chose to buy a pair of Lavin flats that would suit me more than a pair of sandals. After all, I do live in Dk and not in Brazil.

Anyway, on my way to the gym I had a dangers thought: I wonder if Kassandra is already on sales. And it was! And it was the first day! And they had my number! And they are already on my feet! My first pair of my sweet Choo-Choo! Xo-xo for you!

So far, so good, but if sales go on like this (lots of goodies that will look fabulous on me) my budget will suffer… GO A-WAY!

F"@! grass Allergies!

The weather is good after a long period of humidity and rain: the grass has grown and with the heat pollen is in the air. For the first time I am allergic to something and it hitches! I am already loaded with anti-allergenic drugs! Lucky me!

Summer in Denmamrk

Weekend! And this was not just a simple weekend. Finally it’s summer in Denmark!

Doesn’t happen that often but once in a while this country has reeeally good weather. Last week and in the next one the thermometer will be near the 30oC and of course whenever I can I hit the beach. This weekend J and I spent it in the Hornbaek. Fantastic! Not too many pelople (as you can see in my mobile poor picture) and the water was warm! Yes! Warm! I’m still uncomfortable with the all waterman because back in Portugal we only have fireman and those suckers really hitch. But apart of that was really nice.

Summer has definitely a special taste when you’re living in a country where the cold weather rules. People do barbecues; spend the all day in coffees, gardens and beach drinking beer almost all day (I still don’t understand the need of beer each time is hot!) with a huge smile on their faces. Party time is in order! It is funny because the Danes also get stressed: if it is good weather it is a must to be outside. And if the good weather stays for several days in a role, then you start to pile things that have to be done but you cannot do them because you have to enjoy the sun and then the stress begins.

As for me… I’m getting tanned baby!

Michael Jackson died Thursday 25th

Jun 25th will be forever remembered as the day the King of Pop died. Some people liked him, some people loved him, others hated him… but for sure, everybody knew who he was. Michael Joseph Jackson was 50 when he died of a heart attack in Los Angeles.
I think the first time I saw /heard Michael Jackson was when he released his album “Thriller” in 1982. I was 8 back then and I remember watching his video “Thriller” with mixed feelings: scared and excited! I loved the music and the dancing was totally new for me. But his eyes in the end… ohhh I got so frightened! I think it was because of “Thriller” that I grow up so fond of horror movies. Later on, in 1987 in my jazz dance classes I made 2 performances in the end of the year with “Billie Jean” and “Bad”. I followed his career until “Black or White” when I started to listen to rock and later on grunge.
His plastic surgery vendetta made a quite impact on me. How much someone wants to change about oneself is kind of surreal. In my opinion I think he was a cute black guy who become a weird transgender white human. On top of that all the paedophilic allegations did not exactly add up to his charm. The need he showed to live a childhood that was denied by his father making him work as a show children in Jackson Five was touching.
Once in an interview he said that his most honest song was “Childhood”. That was his biographical song. For me, I will always remember him for "Thriller"

Gym Bag

Why do I bother buying expensive designer bags if almost every single day I am back and forth with my gym bag?
P.S: Thanks R for teaching me how to upload pics in the blog :)

Sankt Hans Aften

Sankt Hans Aften is a midsummer party to celebrate the summer solstice. I think these celebrations only take place in Europe and the exact date varies from 1-4 days between cultures/ countries. Because I asked a lot of Danes about the story behind the St. Hans and nobody could give me a straight answer I went for a fast search in Wikipedia.

“In Denmark, the solstitial celebration is called Sankt Hans aften ("St. John's Eve"). It was an official holiday until 1770, and in accordance with the Danish tradition of celebrating a holiday on the evening before the actual day, it takes place on the evening of 23 June. It is the day where the medieval wise men and women (the doctors of that time) would gather special herbs that they needed for the rest of the year to cure people.

It has been celebrated since the times of the Vikings by visiting healing water wells and making a large bonfire to ward away evil spirits. Today the water well tradition is gone. Bonfires on the beach, speeches, picnics and songs are traditional, although bonfires are built in many other places where beaches may not be close by (i.e. on the shores of lakes and other waterways, parks, etc.) In the 1920s a tradition of putting a witch made of straw and cloth (probably made by the elder women of the family) on the bonfire emerged as a remembrance of the church's witch burnings from 1540 to 1693. This burning sends the "witch" away to Bloksbjerg, the mountain 'Brocken' in the Harz region of Germany where the great witch gathering was thought to be held on this day”.

Well as far as I am concerned I had a busy day. Busy at work, followed by gym where I run fast for 20 min, go home to change and get on the bike (again) to peddle for 16 Km (back and forth - my poor legs) to I watch the bonfires at the beach in Hellerup. We went to T´s flat (fantastic view to the sea) and we barbecued in the sand. Fantastic! Steaks, sausages, salad, white wine, mace, strawberries, cherries and cake. Lots of light, warm weather and a rooibos tea with some mint leaves to end the night.

Happy Birthday Body Combat!

Ladies and gentleman “Put your hands up in the air, put your hands up in the air…”

This weekend is the release of Body Combat 40 in Denmark Fitnessdk center. And these release marks 10 years of kicking and punching to the sound of energizing music.

For the ones who are not aware of what body combat is (is it possible?!) here it goes: Body Combat is a fitness class that combines Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi, Muay Thai and Capoeira with the latest trends in music. The result is 60 min. of pure cardio and a lot of fun! It belongs to the Les Mills programme where a group of people sets up a new class (music and choreography) every three months.

Today I did the release 40… And I loved it! It reminds me of the older body combats. Actually one of the musics was from previous body combat. A guy told me it was number 21, but I didn’t check. But it does make sense: after all it was in Body Combat 21 that Dan and Rachel Coehen (in the meanwhile they have fall in love and got married…. see? Fighting in fitness can be romantic!) had their debut in 2003 as Body Combat directors.

So today, I got out of the bed, drunk a red bull and off to fitnessdk! 60 min. of pure happiness! We started with “put your hands up in the air”, followed by “hot n’ cold” through the warm up. By track 2, you release your inner Bruce Lee in “I Know Kung-Fu”. But the track that was most funny for me, was number 5 with “Tutti Frutti”. Very easy, lot’s of repetitions with a lot of power in it. The recovery at the end was made with Kings Of Leon’s hit “Use Somebody”. Love it Love it Love it! And I kicked and punched, sang and jumped…. And now I’m dead! Thank you Dan and Rach!

Tomorrow I will try again the release in another fitnessdk centre with my favourites teachers Esther and Sandra. Can’t wait!

Until then and as Dan and Rach says: Stay with the fight!

Guys relax by not talking. Girls relax by chitchatting

Guys relax by not talking. Girls relax by chitchatting. Another thing you need to take in account as a couple. J says I ask too many questions when he is tired. In my point of view, I’m trying to start a nice conversation and I hate to be ignored.

Jimmy Choo for H&M!

Jimmy Choo for H&M!

“I can’t believe the news today!” Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Jimmy, my dearest friend! Is this really true? Will I afford a pair (or maybe more) of your new shoes and bags? Uhhh I am a bag girl! I like shoes but it’s a nice bag that makes me VIP shop. Thanks H&M! But…. Will I survive the Danish girls? When is time to shop, these girls know their business! OUT of the way!!! It’s not an accident that Hulk Hogan is Danish. If I do survive I will let you know how my adventure on November 14th went.

Simple Girl in Copenhagen

Dear readers,

Finally, after reading so many blogs I have decided to have one of my own. I have no clue how it will turn out: what will I write about? Will I write often? Will I write 4 times and I’m done?! Whatever happens, for sure I will write until is fun! If my English is a little bit awkward, please ignore it. I am in fact a Portuguese girl living in Copenhagen…. I’m a simple girl in Copenhagen!
